Dutch painter, draughtsman and etcher. A pupil of Rembrandt, Eeckhout painted Biblical paintings in the style of his master. He adapted his style to suit his subject with sensitive versatility and was also a gifted colorist and an artist of great imagination.
Boaz instructs his servant to allow Ruth to glean in his field unmolested. Ruth stands next to Boaz holding a sack full of grain. In the background some of Boaz’s servants eat while others work in the field.
