In the upper left, King David, crowned and enthroned, hears the news that Absalom has conspired against him. On the right, Absalom consorts with his father`s concubines, each arm draped around a different woman. In the lower panel, at the left David`s distraught supporters bid farewell, at the city gate. At the right, David climbs barefoot and crying, while Shimei ben Gera throws rocks at him from below, Abishai threatens Shimei with his spear and and Ziba, the servant of Mephiboshet, offers David supplies.
