Caedmon manuscript (MS Junius 11, page 41 ): God cursing the snake, Adam
Above: God, depicted as a man dressed in an elegant robe, crowned with a halo and holding a book, stands above the snake and curses it. The snake stands on the tip of his tail. To the left we see the snake again, now crawling away.
Below: God, holding a holy scroll in his hand, stands above the Tree of Knowledge and gestures toward Adam and Eve. Adam talks to God while covering himself, while Eve kneels on the ground, looking up and hiding her upper and lower body.
