The Desert Wanderings

Anthony Van Dyck   -
Brazen Serpent

Moses, horned and with his back to the viewer, holds a long rod, around which a healing brazen serpent is entwined. The Israelites reach out to the snake in order to be healed and protected from the deadly snakes, sent upon them by God as a punishment for their lack of faith.
